Lipid-linked intermediates in the biosynthesis of xanthan gum
Xanthan gum is a complex exopolysaccharide produced by the gram negative bacterium Xanthomonas campestris . This is the first report on the participation of lipid-linked sugars in the biosynthesis of an exopolysaccharide freely liberated into the culture medium.
