Zusammenfassung:A case of noma has been detected in a Formosan macaque ( Macaca cyclopis). Examination and study revealed the condition to be consistent with known clinical, systemic, and bacteriologic characteristics of noma as found in human beings. The apparent susceptibility of nonhuman primates to noma may now allow for definitive studies to further elucidate the etiology, progress, and therapy of this disease.
