Zusammenfassung:The central dark line observed in enamel crystallites has been studied by transmission electron microscopy. Lattice images and microdiffraction show it to be a single 100 plane of the hydroxyapatite structure whose appearance depends on specific diffraction conditions. The nature and significance of the central dark line as indicated by these studies are discussed.
