Zusammenfassung:	This communication presents the results of a laboratory study to evaluate the suitability of a fertilizer combination (industrial urea and superphosphate) in tap water as a medium for the mass culture of high quality algal material. The objectives were to investigate the chemical composition, solubility, and availability of the fertilizer nitrogen and phosphorus, in addition to establishing any potential for toxicity, such that the medium could be used for outdoor mass culture of green algae.
