Zusammenfassung:Nations that have ratified the UN Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child have agreed to put in place measures "to guarantee the protection of the child from the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography".1 So it is fitting that in the year that marks the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Convention by the UN General Assembly we publish the winner of the Wakley prize essay, as judged by Lancet editors (masked to the identities of entrants).
