Refractive index of nitrogen, water vapor, and their mixtures at submillimeter wavelengths

Molecular masers have been used to measure the refractive index of nitrogen, water vapor, and their mixtures at wavelengths of 337micro, 311 micro, and 28 micro. A discrepancy between the new measurement and microwave values for pure nitrogen is at present unexplained.
