Zusammenfassung:	A compact femtosecond multiterawatt chirped pulse amplification laser system has been developed that uses flashlamp-pumped Cr:LiSAF amplifiers with aperture of up to 25 mm. The generation of Fourier-transform-limited 90-fs pulses with 8-TW peak power is demonstrated. To the authors' knowledge, this is the highest power achieved so far for pulse in this time domain. With further improvements this system has the potential of providing focused intensities well in excess of 10 exp 20 W/sq cm. (AIAA)
