Zusammenfassung:A series of experiments in which a multimode optical fiber was forced to vibrate by a loudspeaker was performed to investigate the sensing mechanism of an integrated optical-fiber communication-sensing system. It was demonstrated that the sensing mechanism is predominantly pressure-induced phase modulation rather than modecoupling-induced power transfer in an optical fiber.
