Zusammenfassung: | Summary
Audiograms were performed pre‐operatively and 2 days postoperatively in 48 patients given spinal anaesthesia for transurethral resection oj the prostate. Hearing levels were examined at 1000 Hz and below. Either 22 G standard design (Quincke) needles (n—25) or 22 G pencil‐point design (Whitacre) needles (n = 23) were used. Hearing loss of 10 dB or more at two or more frequencies were observed in six of 25 patients in the Quincke group and in two of 23 patients in the Whitacre group. The mean hearing level was more reduced in the Quincke group. The shape of the tip of the spinal needle seems to be of some importance to the effects on hearing level that mav occur after spinal anaesthesia. |
