The Role of B6-Deficiency in the Tryptophane-Niacin Relationships in Rats

The omission of pyridoxine from the diet of rats results in a progressive decrease in the urinary excretion of N1-methylnicotinamide after doses of tryptophane. This defect is only slightly overcome by the restoration of pyridoxine to the diet. The data indicate that the abnormal formation of xanthu...

Zusammenfassung:The omission of pyridoxine from the diet of rats results in a progressive decrease in the urinary excretion of N1-methylnicotinamide after doses of tryptophane. This defect is only slightly overcome by the restoration of pyridoxine to the diet. The data indicate that the abnormal formation of xanthurenic acid in B6 deficiency is not responsible for the impaired tryptophane to niacin transformation.
