Zusammenfassung:The theory of light scattering by tenuous particles is used in studying the optical properties of a polydisperse aerosol system consisting of spherical particles with Junge particle size distribution. It is noted that this distribution of aerosol particles corresponds to many atmospheric situations. A normalized scattering diagram and the total scattering coefficient are obtained in analytic form for a polydisperse aerosol system of these spherical particles. The calculations are based on the theory of light scattering by tenuous particles elaborated by Shifrin (1951). The results are considered useful not only for calculating the optical properties of atmospheric aerosols but also for calculating the optical properties of hydrosol systems, such as ocean water, and the optical properties of other colloidal systems.
