Precocious sleep modifications in the evolution of experimental Kuru in rhesus monkeys

In the course of experimental Kuru in rhesus monkey clinical illness was heralded by sleep disturbances. EEG abnormalities first appeared during sleep. These facts suggest an involvement of monoaminergic systems which trigger and control sleep, but its origin remains dubious.
