Zusammenfassung:The depletion of the ozone in the stratosphere by the catalytic action of chlorine, nitrogen oxides, and other agents produced by thermonuclear explosions, supersonic jet engines, and widespread aerosol spraying is discussed. The relevant scientific research on the subject is reviewed; some of the consequences for climate, vegetation, and human life are considered. The gravity of the problem is affirmed.
