Zusammenfassung: | We report a fatal infection with influenza A virus in a 13-year-old child who had been vaccinated against influenza. Influenza A virus RNA was detected by PCR in lungs, bronchi and myocardium. A penicillin-sensitive strain of Staphylococcus aureus was also isolated from her bronchi. This case indicates that a primary viral pneumonia with influenza A virus complicated by a bacterial superinfection with S. aureus can run a fatal course even in a vaccinated child. |
