In previous comments on the paper “An unusual case of sexual assault on an infant: an intraperitoneal candle in a 20-month-old-girl” [1], received by Forensic Science International, Banaschak stated in 1999 that “this article gives a rare and interesting case of sexual abuse on a child but in [her] opinion the article shows some deficiencies” [2]. At the beginning of July 1980, the Circuit Court of the Gironde region condemned Mr. R. to 12 years in prison for indecent assault [8]. [...]we agree to the comments by Banaschak [2] disclosing several deficiencies in this undeniable initially interesting case report which, nevertheless, has been fictitiously updated.
