Relation of the discrete subaortic stenosis position to mitral valve function

We evaluated mitral valve function in 21 patients with an isolated subaortic membrane. An aortic valve to membrane distance of > or = 8mm/m predicted mitral regurgitation in 11 of 21 patients. Surgical resection resulted in resolution of mitral valve regurgitation in most patients.
