Zusammenfassung: | Alkyltin compounds have been used as antioxidants in rubber products, surface disinfectants, biocides, and polymer stabilizers. Tributyltin (TBT) compounds are mainly used as biocidal agents. The erythrocyte membrane has served as a useful model for neurotoxicity, cytotoxicity, and generalized membrane defects. The physical state of and interactions among the constituent membrane proteins, lipids, and carbohydrates can be monitored reliably by the technique of electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) through the incorporation of an appropriate spin label. We report here the results of spin labeling investigation of the effects of TBT on the physical state of membrane proteins and lipids. |
