Zusammenfassung:Denture repairs traditionally are performed on plaster casts. However, when undercuts are present, it is necessary to block out these areas with materials such as wax, plasticine, or moist cotton wool prior to forming the cast. If this precaution is not taken, the cast may be damaged when the denture is removed. Moreover, if the area of undercut follows the fracture line, problems may arise in producing a cast that is accurate in detail. An alternative method for making a cast is to use a condensation-polymerized silicone. This material is adapted to the intaglio surface of the denture and, when set, is used to form a plaster base. The denture can then be removed without damaging the cast. This procedure is quick, accurate, and makes use of readily available materials. It can be applied to both complete and partial dentures.
