Zusammenfassung:Essential fatty acids are important constituents of the brain. There is evidence that levels in blood of certain essential fatty acids and their eicosanoid derivatives may be abnormal. We now report that in the frontal cortex of schizophrenic patients there are significant differences from normal in the fatty acid composition of phosphatidylethanolamine. These differences from normal were not found in the cerebellar cortex.
