Zusammenfassung:David's work clearly documented the method by which the parasite establishes both respiratory and enteric disease in poultry, the extent to which various avian species can be infected by the parasite, methods of manipulating the coccidian in the laboratory, and parameters for cultivating the parasite both in vivo and in ovo. [...]working in the laboratory of Dr. J. P. Dubey, he made significant contributions to our understanding of 2 cyst-forming coccidia, Toxoplasma gondii and Neospora caninum. In July of 1997, David obtained a long overdue position as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences and Pathobiology, College of Veterinary Medicine, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Since accepting that position, he has been able to isolate successfully the primary agent causing equine protozoal myeloencephalitis from a nonequine host and was able to demonstrate that the parasite can be pathogenic in nonequine hosts.
