Say It Ain't So, Norm! Reflections on Who We Are

"Norm," an ABC sitcom about a hockey player who is doing social work as community service to stay out of jail for tax fraud, conveys a negative image of social workers, yet the character is indeed a social worker by BLS standards. A look at how the government collects and maintains data about social workers can shed light on public perceptions and misperceptions about the social work profession.
