Zusammenfassung:The aim of our study was to compare the major cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors of smokers and non-smokers. Risk screening of CVD was estimated by a questionnaire, via interview. Random samples of 20 000 inhabitants of Debrecen, Hungary, aged 30-65 y, took part in the study. 19 922 questionnaires were considered appropriate for further evaluation. 32.2% of the participants (n=6410) were smokers, whose data were compared to those of the 68.8% of non-smokers (n=13 512).
