Zusammenfassung:The efficacy and safety of abacavir and efavirenz plus background therapy were evaluated in 50 heavily antiretroviral pre-treated patients. In this retrospective analysis, the overall antiretroviral efficacy of abacavir and efavirenz plus background therapy was limited in the salvage situation, but immunological benefit was still achieved for most patients. The tolerability of the salvage regimen seems to be good, although the drop-out rate during the first 4 weeks of treatment was high.
