FtsK: Maxwell's Demon?

FtsK, which links chromosome segregation and cell division in E. coli, has now been shown to be an ATP-dependent DNA translocase. It also activates XerCD-dependent recombination, converting chromsome dimers into monomers, by switching the order of strand cleavage by the recombinase subunits.
