Zusammenfassung: | Venous thromboembolic disease is considered an uncommon event in the end-stage renal disease (ESRD) population. We report five cases of venous thromboembolism (VTE) occurring in dialysis patients within a 1-year period at a single center. Analysis of these cases and review of the literature suggest that risk factors for VTE in the ESRD population are similar to those of the general population. Chronically ill, debilitated patients appear to be those most likely to develop VTE. |
