Social scientists need to do high-quality studies on juvenile crime and politicians need to incorporate the data into national policy decisions. Too often these decisions are based on high-profile murders. If juvenile crime is to be prevented, policies must be based on scientific evidence of what works and what doesn't work. Meta-analysis can be used to analyze the studies that have been done in the past.
