Zusammenfassung:The serum uric acid level was linearly related to angiographic severity of coronary artery disease (CAD) in women, but not in men. The relation between uric acid and CAD in women was explained by an overall predominance of metabolic syndrome risk factors (advanced age, dyslipidemia, hypertension, hyperinsulinemia), whereas, in men, advanced age and microalbuminuria were the best predictors of CAD.
