Zusammenfassung:It is demonstrated that anabolic effect of steroid hormones is produced by steroid-apolipoprotein A-I complexes. These complexes accelerate not only protein, but also DNA synthesis and produce both cell hypertrophy and hyperplasia. For realization of their anabolic effect steroid hormones are modified by alpha- and beta-reductases in resident macrophages.
