Health-worker salaries and incomes in sub-Saharan Africa

Recommendations by Physicians for Human Rights,3 similar to those of McCoy and colleagues, also suggest three roles to improve salaries and benefits of health workers: donors to assist countries to improve salaries; African countries to consider applications to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria for funds to improve remuneration; and the USA and other donors to remove obstacles that prohibit payment to health workers in foreign countries.
