Septic thrombosis of the basilic, axillary, and subclavian veins caused by a peripherally inserted central venous catheter

A patient with suppurative thrombophlebitis of the basilic and axillary veins and septic thrombosis of the subclavian vein from a peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) is reported, and guidelines for diagnosis and management are discussed.
