Zusammenfassung:It has recently been recognized that leptin and leptin receptors play key roles in the regulation of body weight. Leptin is a peptidic hormone that provides signals to the brain about the amount of fat stores and is secreted mainly (but not exclusively) by the adipose tissue. By interacting with membrane receptors located in hypothalamus nuclei, leptin inhibits food intake and stimulates energy expenditure in rodents.
