Zusammenfassung: | Primary leiomyosarcoma of the uterine cervix is an exceedingly rare tumor. Probably, this is first case to be reported in a young woman. A 25‐year‐old south Indian woman presented with excessive white discharge per vaginum. On examination, a growth in the cervix infiltrating to the anterior vaginal wall was present. Biopsy showed leiomyosarcoma. Two cycles of chemotherapy with cisplatin, doxorubicin and cyclophosphamide were given and then a total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo‐oophorectomy was carried out, followed by local radiation to the anterior vaginal wall. The patient developed extensive metastasis within 6 months of surgery. Because the number of reported cases is very small, the optimal mode of treatment is yet to be established. Additional cases are needed to establish the optimal mode of management and to predict the prognosis. |
