September 11th

Grimm recalls his experience when he was deployed overseas after the tragic events of Sept 11 2001. It seems as though he has been describing some kind of Club Med, but this definitely was not a vacation spot. There was plenty of work to do. As a flight nurse, he was part of an aero-medical evacuation crew whose responsibility was to evacuate the wounded from the war zone to places where they could get the care they needed. Patients were stabilized initially at their station and were airlifted if they needed care beyond the capabilities of the medical facility at their location.
