Zusammenfassung:The ductus arteriosus connects the main pulmonary artery with the descending aorta, distal to the origin of the subclavian artery. It is often unclear why the ductus arteriosus does not close in full-term infants. Based on the evidence, pediatric nurses and APNs can feel comfortable in presenting transcatheter coil occlusion as a safe, cost-effective alternative to surgical closure of the patent ductus arteriosus in the majority of patients.
