Clones and Subclones in the Lung Cancer Field

An editorial on clones and subclones in the lung cancer field is presented. Molecular evidence for clonal outgrowth was observed in at least one focus of nonmalignant epithelium from 13 of 19 lung resections examined, and one third of the foci examined showed at least one molecular change.
