Rational‐based structural modifications of tetracycline derivatives that can act as selective inducers of the transactivating proteins rtTA‐1/2 and rtTA‐D have been carried out. These modifications led to a novel two‐stage regulatory system in which two separate genes can be regulated by using the selective inducers 9‐dipropylaminodoxycycline (1) and doxycycline (dox).
