Zusammenfassung:The population-based study by Gades and colleagues3 of 2115 white men aged 40-79 years revealed that men who smoked at some time had a greater risk of erectile dysfunction than men who never smoked (age-adjusted odds ratio 1.45, 95% Cl 1,00-2,02) and there was a dose response. Although these data describe an association and do not prove cause and effect, I do believe they emphasise the importance of considering the role of smoking in future studies of reproductive health in men, particularly where erectile dysfunction is a parameter.
