Do We Understand the Volatility of Ionic Liquids

The volatile nature of ionic liquids: Ionic liquids are recognized as “green” solvents because of their essentially null volatility. Ironically, it is the low vapor pressure, the large enthalpy of vaporization, and the high boiling point of ionic liquids that make it difficult to study their macroscopic behavior at a molecular level.
