Zusammenfassung: | Abstract Restless legs syndrome (RLS) is a clinical disorder that currently is not characterized by a uniform pathophysiologiocal definition. The diagnosis of RLS requires circadian variation in symptoms, although no pathophysiological basis has been verified. Clinical observations and research studies confirm the variation in symptoms, of both sensory and motor components, over the course of the day. This contribution reviews the current literature on circadian variation in RLS and discusses potential intrinsic and extrinsic causes. |
