Maltsberger discusses the combined role of pharmacotherapy and psychosocial interventions in the long-term treatment of a schizophrenic patient at risk for suicide. Among other things, Weinberg and Schechter describe a very successful treatment of a patient at high risk of suicide, review the factors that go into the suicide risk assessment for this patient, and then discuss the course of treatment from both a psychopharmacologic and psychotherapeutic perspective.
