Zusammenfassung:	We present a rare case of transitional cell carcinoma of the navicular fossa in an elderly man. We detected the expression of human papillomavirus type 16 specific DNA sequence in the tumor using polymerase chain reaction. Human papillomavirus dissemination into the urethra by urethral instrumentation might cause urethral tumors, such as squamous cell carcinoma or condyloma acuminatum, and also transitional cell carcinoma as seen in the present case.
