Phlebosclerotic Colitis: Imaging-Pathologic Correlation

The objective of this study was to analyze the imaging findings of phlebosclerotic colitis in comparison with histologic findings. Calcifications and/or obstructions of the veins of the colonic wall and adjacent mesentery and collateral formation, edematous thickening of the colonic wall, and increased density in the fatty tissue of the surrounding mesentery were features of this rare entity. However, in the early stage of the disease, no definite calcification of the affected veins was observed.
