Vaccine Shortages: Why They Occur and What Needs to Be Done to Strengthen Vaccine Supply

Klein and Myers believe that the solutions that are needed to strengthen vaccine supply in the US will require sustained effort, political will, and commitment from the various vaccine constituencies. They contend that shortages of routinely administered vaccines will likely continue because of the complexity of vaccine manufacture, but solutions are available to ensure that such shortages will be readily resolved without compromising national immunization programs.
