Hybridization of Pyrrolidinyl Peptide Nucleic Acids and DNA: Selectivity, Base-Pairing Specificity, and Direction of Binding
A mixed-base, β-amino acid containing, pyrrolidinyl peptide nucleic acid (PNA) binds strongly and selectively to complementary DNA in an exclusively antiparallel fashion. The PNA−DNA binding specificity strictly follows the Watson−Crick base-pairing rules.
