Significant Enhancement of the Stille Reaction with a New Combination of Reagents-Copper(I) Iodide with Cesium Fluoride

The combination of copper(I) iodide and cesium fluoride significantly enhances the Stille reaction. After extensive optimisation, a variety of electronically unfavourable and sterically hindered substrates were coupled in very high yields under mild conditions. The perfect couple: The Stille coupling reactions of aryl/vinyl iodides, bromides, and triflates can be conducted efficiently under very mild conditions using readily available reagents (see scheme).
