Contemporary reports cite a 1963 textbook by an American author as the source of the term “Eisler’s pocket.” The original description by Eisler appears in a multivolume manual of ophthalmology published in Germany in 1930. Paul Eisler was a skilled anatomist who contributed to the extensive body of scholarly work originating in Germany in the early 20th century.
