Zusammenfassung:Bernstein and Steffensmeier present a case on optical coherence tomography before and after repair of a macular hole induced by an unintentional argon laser burn, which documents that an acute thermal laser burn to the fovea takes time to evolve into a typical macular hole. This is in contrast to foveal pulsed-laser injuries that probably cause instantaneous macular holes secondary to mechanical injury. Standard surgical repair closed the macular hole induced by the argon laser with substantial improvement of vision, but acuity in the right eye has not returned to 20/20.
