Zusammenfassung: | Blink and you will miss it! The structure of carbasalatum calcicum (CC) has been determined by synchrotron powder diffractometry. By scrutinizing crystal dissolution and nucleation, it was found that the degradation of CC in water involves acetylsalicylatum calcicum (AC) as a furtive species that quickly exchanges its acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) ligands with water (see scheme). The crystal structure of AC is also reported. |
