Zusammenfassung:A mathematical model was developed and analytical solutions were obtained for dispersed-drug release from two-dimensional matrix tablets in a perfect sink. This model can be used to describe kinetics of solute release from matrices with isotropic or anisotropic properties. Moving boundaries of dispersed-drug in both radial and axial directions and release kinetics were predicted by the model. Various factors influencing release kinetics were analyzed including the ratio of initial solute loading ( C 0) to solute solubility ( C s), the anisotropy of the matrix and the aspect ratio of tablet radius to the half-thickness. The model is also applicable to 1-D planar or 1-D cylindrical geometries when R/ H is larger than 100 or smaller than 0.01.
