[...]although many patients hospitalized with ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA) show low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-c) higher than recommended by national guidelines [9], in a unselected cohort of patients who arrived to the hospital within 24 hours of stroke onset, higher cholesterol levels were associated with less severe strokes [10].
